  • Hi Nanda,

That was an informative post with a nice list of plugins πŸ™‚

Yes, nowadays, every blogger must switch to mobile friendly sites. I am glad we made our switch to a responsive theme two years back too, and it’s working well for us so we don’t need any of these plugins. You must check our blog on your mobile and let us know if it’s working well πŸ™‚

After all, why not, especially when you know that most of the people are reading your posts and surfing online, using their mobiles. You now even have Whatsapp for your blogs, so it makes sense to install either of these plugins.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead πŸ™‚

I know that you have a responsive theme because I have checked your blog with my mobile phone some time ago. Indeed, your theme is mobile friendly, as expected from a responsive theme. πŸ˜‰

    Hi Nanda,
useful list of great plugins here.

WP Touch is the most popular one.

Though, I find having a mobile responsive theme the best choice.
This improves the loading speed of your site, as you don’t have to use a plugin for creating a mobile version of your blog.

    Thanks for the share!

  • Hi Nanda,
Thank you so much for this much needed post.
Every website should be responsive. I have seen many blogs which are quite responsive but their comment form doesn’t get loaded on mobiles. This is a great flaw through my point of view. By doing so, they resist the freedom of expression which is a fundamental right actually (LoL).
I have used only Jetpack from this list. It is superb. The biggest spec is that it comes with an in-built commenting system. SO we have not to worry about responsiveness of comment form.
Thank you so much to come-up with this post.

    Hi bro,
A few hours ago, I was on Sh’s blog using my desktop PC and Chrome browser and discovered I was browsing the mobile version with WPTouch

The same thing happened to me in 2013 with my former blog. Some of my readers contacted me and signaled the issue. I think WPTouch has that bug of sometimes trigering the mobile version even on desktop.

Most premium themes now are responsive and that should be the way forward.

Thanks however for helping us know about these plugins

  • Hey Nanda,

Great post. I agree that having a mobile friendly site is really important and deserves to be a priority. Unfortunately, I’m not familar with these plugins other than Jetpack.

I was under the assumption that since my theme was mobile friendly, I wouldn’t have to have a mobile friendly plugin. Is that right or wrong?

Good informative post though. Need to look into this more.

  • Hey Nanda,

You know for the longest time I was pretty stubborn when it came to MObie marketing. Now for the past couple of months I’ve been taking advantage of the convenience of using my mobile phone.

    Why?

Because I don’t have enough time to continuously read and comment on Blog posts.

Although I use a mobile responsive theme now there was one point in my journey that I didnt.

    So what did I do?

I used a couple of plugin similar to the ones to this post to make up for it. It definitely widened up the scope for my blog!

I’m sure that those bloggers who don’t have a mobile responsive theme will definitely appreciate this post!

I’m so glad that you found my blog through Donna and now I’m here. I recognize so many familiar faces!

This is a great list of plugins and a timely post. Google has already been sending out warnings to webmasters if their sites aren’t mobile friendly.

I’ve been using the WPTouch Mobile Plugin on my site and several client sites. The free version works well on most of them but I like the idea that the WP Mobile Detector plugin automatically detects the type of mobile device and provides a suitable mobile theme. That sounds like a great solution. I’ll have to look into it.

    Hi Nanda
Ignoring mobile visitors is something that I did for a very long time, even that I often visit my own blog from my Smartphone. I was using an old WordPress theme that I was happy with, but it was not optimized for mobile devices at all. Recently a visitor contacted me and suggested that I should do something about it. Now my blog is loading a lot faster and fits on a mobile device. So glad I decided to do something about it. Even do I think that most of the works should be done in the WordPress theme, it is always great to know that there is plugins out there that can help too.

  • Hi Nanda,

You’ve certainly done your research, this is a good lowdown on some good plugins. I’m not actually very familiar with plugins that make your site responsive so this is a post I’ll be sure to bookmark for future reference.

On my site I use a responsive theme so, at the moment, I don’t need anything else to do the job.

It’s certainly important to make sure that your site displays in a responsive fashion. With that in mind, I wonder how much of a demand there will be in the coming years for actual mobile versions of websites? I already know a number of people who get annoyed at webpages automatically displaying in a mobile manner when using their large screen tablets, for example (or even on PCs, in some cases, when the site isn’t configured properly!). I myself also prefer a webpage to behave like a traditional webpage when using my 10.1″ tablet. It will definitely be interesting to monitor as time goes on whether the demand for mobile versions of sites will dwindle.

Thanks very much for the informative post. I hope you have a great weekend. πŸ™‚

    Hello, Nanda,

Thanks for this good and relevant article. I think that having a responsive site is extremely important these days, and actually critical in my opinion.

More than 50% of all people accessing the Internet are doing so from a mobile device, and this rate is increasing daily. Staggering when you think about it really.

Some folks think that having a ’bare bones’ site via mobile is good enough, but I like to have a fully functioning site via mobile and links large enough to be clicked on, social media sharing buttons, opt ins, etc.

I’ve heard of WPTouch and JetPack, but not the others. I use DudaMobile, and am pleased so far.
