Increase Website Traffic

Website traffic is the most essential thing for every website. And the lack of website traffic is terrible scourge for most bloggers.

Let’s say, you hit the publish button for your latest post and look forward the comments and shares started coming at your website. But it never happened.

While you work hard to create an article, but it seems it was not enough to increase website traffic, you are in despair that your article is not visible on World Wide Web. Then..

How to increase website traffic? What should I do to attract readers to read my article? Is there a magical way to increase website traffic quickly?

These questions start popping up in your mind. And in fact, these are mandatory questions that must be asked by blogger. Without a doubt, every blogger definitely have these questions in their mind.

How To increase Website Traffic?

This article will give you some helpful and killer tips that allow you to increase your website traffic for sure. So, let’s get started…

1. Write Well and Write Regularly

Blog content is the main source of your website traffic. With the presence of good content, your readers will be built on its own.

So, make sure your readers keep coming back to your blog by providing valuable and useful content. Then, give it frequently and make them feel at home hanging in your blog. Make them loyal!

I’m not sure with my writing skills. So, how can I write a good content?

Don’t worry; I can guess what makes you scared. That’s why I have prepared an article for you about how to write good blog posts. Create your own good blog posts by applying these tips.

2. Use Links and Trackbacks

Linking is like a pat on the shoulder for other bloggers as well as to invite them to read your article. And leave a trackback is like a pat on the shoulder of other blogger’s readers.

Most great bloggers will link their posts with the other great bloggers posts. And usually bloggers will easily investigate any sites linked to them. This will lead them to visit those websites and increase website traffic automatically.

If they find your post is good, it is likely they will share it to their networks. It also increases the chances of your links added to their blogs. You will get many benefits just by doing a small act.

If you find blogs that allow trackbacks, this may lead your link will be displayed in the comments field on the blog you linked to. And usually, people tend to click trackback links!

Do you want an example?

You can see the real example as was done by Carol Amato. At the end of each post, she gave a special space to express her gratitude to those who have contributed to her career as a blogger. The name for this section is “You’re a Gem – Thank You.”

It is really a brilliant way to increase website traffic, build good relationships, appreciation and encouraging other bloggers to do better than before. Here it is the screenshot:

 3. Don’t Forget Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO friendly content is all you need when writing articles for your blog. It will simplify the search engines in finding your blog on World Wide Web. That way, your website traffic will increase with certainty.

Simply put, make a list of keywords and key phrases for your article, and then spread it naturally in every part of your content.

Avoid using too many keywords or adding keywords that are not relevant to your content. Your blog will be fully removed from Google due to spamming issues.

Also, avoid using SEO techniques that cannot be applied anymore. Your blog will fall to the ground if you’re still using outdated SEO techniques, let alone increase website traffic.

4. Use Images

Don’t underestimate the power of images. Images with no doubt can increase traffic to your website for sure. Since Google and other search engines have image search options and people surely use this feature.

Use the appropriate images and do not forget to optimize your images properly. This simple act can increase website traffic effectively.

5. Tag Your Posts

Determine your post tags require less time compared to writing a blog post. However, it gives a pretty good traffic to your website.

Tags are very easily recognized by search engines. So, this is a golden chance for you. Make sure you know how to use tags effectively.

6. Take advantage of Social Bookmarking Sites

Do not let the posts that you created wholeheartedly just end up in your website. Take advantage of social bookmarking sites, such as Reddit, StumbleUpon and Digg to get more website traffic.

Choose your best posts, and submit them to those websites!

7. The Power of Blog Commenting

Many people say that blog commenting spend too much time and not too useful for their blog. Indeed, it spends a lot of time, but I strongly opposed that it’s useless.

Blog commenting will increase website traffic exponentially rather than ordinary ways, I can guarantee it!

Blog Commenting

If you get comments on your blog, then you have to respond to them. It’s a great way to show that you appreciate their voices. Try to create a two-way conversation with them. By doing so, you also increase the readers loyalty on your blog.

What should I do next?

Visit other blogs, read their posts and leave valuable comments to gain new website traffic. Most people will read the comments left on an article, especially for the great one.

If you leave interesting and valuable comments, people will be attracted to you and encourage them to click on your website link attached to your comment. They want to know more about you!

That’s why it is very important to comment properly to increase website traffic. As time goes, you will taste the power of blog commenting and the amount of traffic coming to your website will will get you in shock.

8. Guest Blogging

Guest blogging can be defined; you write an article for other blogs or vice versa. Guest posts are a win-win solution for both sides involved.

When you do a guest post, your blog will be shown on other blogs and most of other blogger’s readers will visit your blog.

You have the opportunity to get website traffic doubled by doing guest posts. And instead, other bloggers will get fresh content from you.

9. Join Online Groups or Blogging Communities

Find online groups on social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook. You can share your best stuff and get responses from people who have the same interests with you.

By doing so, you will get new traffic to your website and new friends at the same time. Since not all of online groups have a good activeness, then you should be wise in choosing groups before you decide to join.

Join blogging communities is also not a bad choice. You can join communities such as Kingged, Klinkk or Aha! NOW Blogging Community (ABC). It is one of the fastest ways to increase website traffic.

10. Get Awards from Other Blogs

Some time ago, I had the honor because I have been included in the list of Top 20 Inspiring Men Bloggers from Aha! Now.

Top Inspiring Bloggers Map

Aha! NOW Top 20 Inspiring Men Bloggers

It really surprised me. I had no idea would be included in this great list along with other great bloggers. And the result, my blog traffic increases and more and more bloggers know about me. This is a great progress.

I really thanked Harleena Singh for this great prize.

11. Harness the Power of Social Media

Do not forget to utilize social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or others by sharing your blog posts on these sites. Social media users are always increasing day by day, and this fact could be your website traffic.

Are there any special tricks in using social media sites to get more traffic to your website?

I don’t know if this is a special trick or not, but you should try to share your post multiple times.

One mistake in using social media sites is our mind that only allows us to share our posts just once. Are you able to guarantee that everyone has seen posts that you share?

The best way is you have to share your post multiple times in a timely manner. Share once when you press the publish button, and then you may tweet it again on the next day, or next week for Google+ and Facebook.

Isn’t this an act of spamming?

I think this is not spamming in some cases. This is your way to ensure your followers and your readers do not miss a thing from you. However, you should do it properly!

Tips for Sharing More Than Once

One thing you should keep in mind is that you should not use the same message when you reshare your posts. Use unique and different messages to stimulate readers to click your link. For example, if you want to share my previous blog post, you can use these structures:

Tweeting with Title:

Tweet with TitleTweeting with Question:

Tweet with Question

Social media can be great tools for you if used properly. Also, do not forget to utilize hashtags (#) to get more website traffic.

12. Don’t Be Shy To Ask

The ultimate way to increase website traffic; try to ask someone who is an expert in the field. You will obtain doable ways from them if you ask the right people.

Don’t be afraid to speak up, don’t be shy to say hello, try to build a good conversation and ask questions if you did not understand something.

However, don’t forget to introduce yourself in advance. There will be no one who wants to tell you something if they do not know who you are.

Increase website traffic is not an easy job, but it’s also not too difficult to deal with. Indeed, these tips don’t cover everything, but at least it will help you in some ways. If you follow these tips, your dream to get more website traffic is not just a dream anymore.

If you found this article useful, please share it with your friends and your family. I also look forward to hearing your voices in the comments field below. Thank you for reading! 😉

  • Hi Nanda,

    Informative post indeed 🙂

I think you mentioned most of the killer tips for those who wish to increase their website traffic, which I am sure every blogger would want.

Let me start by thanking you for mentioning the ABC (Aha!NOW Blog Community), where you are also a member now, and I am sure you are seeing the difference. I agree about Klinkk and Kingged as well as they are wonderful communities, though each different in it’s own way.

I guess the essence of any community should be to help people. Some of the ways can be either through building great connections, sharing the knowledge with each other, and of course sharing your posts. So, if a free community is able to give you these things, I guess you only got to gain from joining up 🙂

Content IS the king, and a lot depends on how and what you write. If your posts are helpful, you will get traffic. Similarly, if you a giver or a person who expresses thanks by mentioning or sharing each others posts, you are bound to see people flock on such sites.

Yes, we have the men and women blogger awards each year, and this year you too were nominated for your wonderful contributions to the blog. It’s a way of recognizing the efforts of fellow bloggers, isn’t it?

I cannot imagine my blog reaching where it is today, had it not been for the power of blog commenting and social media, as I hardly know much of SEO, nor does one need too much of it nowadays. But the connections and relationships you build through these two mediums is unmatched.

Thanks for sharing these tips with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

Yes, I admit it. Honestly, I learned a lot from you about blog commenting and sharing. From you, I learned to do all of that. For that very reason I can also meet with a variety of great bloggers. I am very grateful for it.

Hi Nanda, thank you for these tips.
I have been a blogger since I discovered it for the first time 7 years ago. I have always been a writer, and I love inspiring people through words. It was easy back then to get a lot of visitors. I was writing in Dutch on Self Development. I was the first in my niche, so you can imagine how well I ranked in Google 😉

I am blogging in English as will now, and the blogging world has grown and evolved. But I still love it. And the same principles still hold: write about what you find interesting or what your learn yourself, that is what keeps people engaged. And then connect with others and share share share… Having a ‘competition’ mindset is what can keep you stuck. Seeing other bloggers as friends and collegues will get you much further.

I love your tips. I will go over them and implement some new things.

    Thx

    Hi Nanda

Very useful post and a few of these tips are magical to get higher traffic at your blog.

First one is of utmost importance as writing quality post with consistency is a big challenge and one has to keep working hard to bring wonderful ideas and do research to create an unforgettable post every time.

You give the sub title ‘power of blog commenting’ and actually you told the whole story in sub-heading alone by terming blog commenting as powerful source to get more traffic.

Yes, despite more focus at off-page SEO one should not ignore the on-page SEO aspect that still has the same power except it should not be overdone as it was used to be done in early days of blogging.

Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful post.

Great post and tips. As my site is fairly new I am still finding it very difficult to direct traffic to my website. I will certainly try number 2 – the link back but again one has to have the comments in the first place and I tend to agree with a lot of articles I have read, that many read but do not comment. I also side-stepped and read your article about tags. Unfortunately the Weebly blog page seems to only have places for title and blog SEO description. Is that really the same thing? I assume I have too put what I can in there to help my traffic?

    • Hi Richard,

Welcome to my blog and thanks for the engagement 🙂

Yes, leave comments on each blog we read is a great way to leave the trace and invite other bloggers to read our article.

  • Hi Nanda,

These are sure fire ways to increase traffic! Of course, I love commenting the best of all. I love it when someone comes to my blog and have their say about what I wrote. It is very conversational and I am grateful for all those (including you) that leave fantastic comments.

Of course, in return, I go to their blog and do the same and share it on social sites. It’s the organic traffic I get that makes it so much fun. When it comes to commenting I always say it’s the backbone of our business.

And for someone new, you have given great examples Like Kingged to join to get the traffic going. It takes a “tribe” in order to get our blogs recognized and I new that from the first time I got into blogging ergo…the name donnamerrillltribe. Shows that we cannot do it alone.

Hi Nanda – first time visitor to your blog.

I couldn’t agree with you more about blog commenting. Yes it can be time consuming, but it is valuable when done right.

Up until recently, I never gave much thought to leaving comments on the blogs I was visiting. Then something interesting happened. I started leaving a few comments, and all of the sudden people were leaving comments on my blog. The more comments I left, the more comments I received.

In the last two months I’ve been able to build a valuable blog community with a handful of bloggers I interact with on a regular basis. As time permits, I discover new blogs that catch my fancy, and try to leave comments there as well.

If only there was more time in the day.

Thanks for the valuable tips Nanda.

    Hi Nanda,

I completely agree with you when you say – Write well and write regularly – both are crucial to creating a Blog site that has authority and keeps site visitors coming back for more regularly.

On the other hand, today most Blog sites disable trackbacks and pingbacks due to the crazy amount of trackback/pingback SPAM that happens. Having said that, linking to great content that supports / adds value to a post on your Blog site is a really nice thing to do. It helps in introducing your site visitors to another Blogger’s point of view which can be quite helpful.

Leaving comments, especially a vote of thanks on Blog sites, is really great for the Blog sphere. It encourages Bloggers, makes them feel appreciated. Often you will get a great comment back in return. Commenting and linking back does helps drive cross site traffic in a really great way.

What you’ve said about Search Engine Optimization, also touched a chord. All too often Bloggers, seem to ignore Keywords, tags, description and so on, which are vital for positioning your Blog post content properly in search engine indexes and is so very crucial in getting your Blog site content delivered to seekers of information using Search Engines. WordPress plugins like YOAST, All-In-One SEO, and so on make this really simple to do. This does add huge value to the Blog post content, but regretfully is often ignore by Bloggers. Let’s not leave everything to Google, that’s not wise.

A totally text based post can be visually boring, even if it contains a ton of great content. Images add a vital pinch of visual charm to any Blog post, as you’ve so correctly pointed out. I always try and sprinkle a few supportive images within my Blog posts.

Guest Blogging, using Social streams and participating in Online communities such as Kingged and Viral Content Buzz are all vital to increasing traffic to your Blog site.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed and value filled Blog post.

    • Hi Ivan,

Welcome to my blog and thanks for adding your voice in here 🙂

I’m glad you agree with me.
I also like your comments. Indeed, if we have good content, the readers will come by themselves. Our blog will be traffic magnets.

Yes, I agree. Even the most great blog will remove system comments from their blog . The reason is diverse, one reason is not having enough time to respond to all incoming comments.

Yes, I also often see bloggers who ignore what you mention above. We should not ignore it because it will make our traffic was not optimal.

Yes, as happens now, you can get here because the blogging community and it was great. The blogging community can indeed increase our traffic more. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts, Ivan.
I’m glad to see you here. I hope to see you more often here. 😉

  • Hey Nanda,

You covered a lot here on this post Nanda. I like posts like this because it gives you some type of direction and guidelines of what to do to get specific results.

In this case it’s to increase website traffic and you did provide some great details on what to do to accomplish this. The one thing I’ve done and still doing is blog commenting. Yes it’s quite tedious, but it’s well worth it. Not only you increase traffic but you’ll learn from others.

You and me know the advantage of joining blogging communities. But lets use kingged.com for example ;).. you get a lot from building relationships, referral traffic, support, and learning something new each time you read a blog from the site. But the right blog communities will do this for you as long as you put in the work.

Thanks for sharing Nanda! You have a good one!

    Hello Nanda,

    I really enjoyed reading this!

I have always been scared to leave links of really popular bloggers in my work because I am unsure if they would be happy or not.

I know it is all about confidence but I just have an uneasy feeling that they may not like what I have written! Eventually I will break out of my shell and start to incorporate other’s work into my own but for now I’ll stick to being a scaredy cat!

The best thing I ever did was join the ABC community at AHA-NOW.com as you have mentioned above. Harleena, Vinay and all of the other contributors have been such a tremendous help to me. I really don’t know where I would be in my blogging journey without them!

I recently wrote my first guest post and that was very a nerve wracking experience! But I think as long as I keep developing my blogging skills and reading great articles like this that I will eventually be comfortable with my writing skills.

Thanks again for the great article!

Welcome to my blog and thanks for your nice words 🙂
Glad to know you liked this post!

Yes, I also have the same feelings with you. I used to be so. But, I get rid of the negative feelings as soon as possible. Perhaps, if you are confident with your content and you can build a good relationship with it, then you can link the them to famous bloggers. 😉

I think, they will also be very happy to assist you. I also have some great bloggers who often gave me the encouragement to do better.

You must have the confidence to do it. No one will laugh at you, since we all are a learner. 😉

Oh yes, I can not agree more with you. I also benefited greatly from ABC. I make some people as role models, including Harleena. So, I am grateful to join her community.

You are more advanced than me. I have not even made my first guest post yet. Although I get some offers to do that, but I feel that I do not yet have enough confidence to do so. That’s weird, isn’t it? 😆

Thanks for share your great thoughts with us, Martin.
Yes, the pleasure is all mine. Glad you can add your voice in here. Hope you are having an awesome weekend!
